In 2022, I came on at Wagmi United as the Director of Social, which was challenging because they had no social following to speak of. Wagmi was made of a group of crypto and traditional VC investors that had joined to purchase Crawley Town FC, a lower league football team about an hour south of London. As a consultant I helped build out their social channels to nearly half a million. I worked alongside the football club’s existing social team at the football club, and employing local creatives we were able to establish a brand in the EFL like no other for a team of its size and stature. We eventually partnered and co-produced content with creators like the Sidemen and Hashtag United establishing ourselves as the only future facing disruptive football club and sports management company of it’s kind. It was truly a dream job. I got to commute to London every month, stay in my own flat in Islington, and see as much football as I wanted to. The Wagmi brand was eventually folded into the team’s channels and I found out my wife was pregnant, so I had to leave the company, but one of the coolest opportunities I’ve ever had.
